Sobre o artista
The Cranberries foi uma banda de rock irlandesa de Limerick, formada em 1989, cuja formação clássica reunia a cantora e compositora Dolores O'Riordan, o guitarrista Noel Hogan, o baixista Mike Hogan e o baterista Fergal Lawler. Tornaram-se um dos grupos definidores do rock alternativo dos anos 1990, combinando guitarras brilhantes com influências de dream-pop e o estilo vocal marcante e melancólico de O'Riordan, comparado no início a The Sundays e Cocteau Twins, antes de evoluir para algo bem mais intenso e inconfundível.
Seu álbum de estreia, «Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?» (1993), ganhou força aos poucos até o single «Linger» estourar internacionalmente, levando o disco a vendas multiplatina. O álbum seguinte, «No Need to Argue» (1994), trouxe «Zombie», canção de protesto crua e carregada de distorção sobre o conflito na Irlanda do Norte, que se tornou a faixa-símbolo da banda e uma das músicas de rock mais reconhecíveis da década, ao lado de sucessos mais suaves como «Ode to My Family» e «Dreams».
The Cranberries continuaram lançando álbuns até os anos 2010, consolidando um legado construído sobre a escrita emocionalmente direta de O'Riordan e a habilidade da banda de transitar entre baladas vulneráveis e rock hino de consciência social, até que a morte de O'Riordan em 2018 encerrou a história do grupo.
