Sobre el artista
The Cranberries fueron una banda de rock irlandesa de Limerick formada en 1989, cuya alineación clásica incluía a la cantautora Dolores O'Riordan, el guitarrista Noel Hogan, el bajista Mike Hogan y el baterista Fergal Lawler. Se convirtieron en uno de los grupos definitorios del rock alternativo de los noventa, combinando guitarras brillantes de influencia dream-pop con el estilo vocal distintivo y quejumbroso de O'Riordan, comparado al principio con The Sundays y Cocteau Twins antes de evolucionar hacia algo mucho más contundente e inconfundible.
Su debut de 1993, «Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?», ganó impulso lentamente hasta que el sencillo «Linger» triunfó internacionalmente, llevando al álbum a ventas multiplatino. El siguiente disco, «No Need to Argue» (1994), incluyó «Zombie», una canción de protesta cruda y saturada de distorsión sobre el conflicto de Irlanda del Norte que se convirtió en su tema insignia y en una de las canciones de rock más reconocibles de la década, junto a éxitos más suaves como «Ode to My Family» y «Dreams».
The Cranberries siguieron publicando álbumes hasta la década de 2010, consolidando un legado basado en la escritura emocionalmente directa de O'Riordan y en la capacidad de la banda para moverse con fluidez entre baladas vulnerables y rock himno de conciencia social, hasta que la muerte de O'Riordan en 2018 puso fin a la historia del grupo.
