Sobre el artista
Chicago es una banda de rock estadounidense formada en 1967 en la ciudad de Chicago, Illinois, originalmente bajo el nombre Chicago Transit Authority antes de abreviarlo para evitar una disputa legal. El grupo se distinguió desde el principio por un sonido impulsado por metales, combinando elementos de jazz, R&B e influencias clásicas con la composición de rock, un enfoque inusual entre las bandas de rock de la época.
Entre los miembros fundadores se encontraban el tecladista Robert Lamm, el guitarrista Terry Kath, el trompetista Lee Loughnane, el trombonista James Pankow, el saxofonista Walter Parazaider y el baterista Danny Seraphine, con los álbumes numerados de la banda convirtiéndose en un distintivo a lo largo de su extensa discografía. Éxitos tempranos como «Beginnings», «25 or 6 to 4» y «Saturday in the Park» mostraron sus arreglos cargados de metales y su ajustada ejecución musical.
Tras la muerte del guitarrista Terry Kath a finales de los años setenta, Chicago se orientó hacia un sonido pop-rock más suave y centrado en baladas en los años ochenta, logrando grandes éxitos como «If You Leave Me Now», «Hard to Say I'm Sorry» y «You're the Inspiration», a menudo con el productor David Foster dando forma a su dirección más pulida y radiofónica.
