Sobre o artista
Chicago é uma banda de rock americana formada em 1967 na cidade de Chicago, Illinois, originalmente sob o nome Chicago Transit Authority, encurtado depois para evitar uma disputa legal. O grupo se distinguiu desde o início por um som impulsionado por metais, combinando elementos de jazz, R&B e influências clássicas com composição de rock, uma abordagem incomum entre bandas de rock da época.
Entre os membros fundadores estavam o tecladista Robert Lamm, o guitarrista Terry Kath, o trompetista Lee Loughnane, o trombonista James Pankow, o saxofonista Walter Parazaider e o baterista Danny Seraphine, com os álbuns numerados da banda se tornando uma marca distintiva ao longo de sua extensa discografia. Sucessos iniciais como «Beginnings», «25 or 6 to 4» e «Saturday in the Park» mostraram seus arranjos carregados de metais e execução coesa.
Após a morte do guitarrista Terry Kath no final dos anos 1970, o Chicago migrou para um som pop-rock mais suave e voltado a baladas nos anos 1980, emplacando grandes sucessos como «If You Leave Me Now», «Hard to Say I'm Sorry» e «You're the Inspiration», muitas vezes com o produtor David Foster moldando sua direção mais polida e radiofônica. Apesar das mudanças de formação ao longo das décadas, o Chicago permanece ativo há mais de cinquenta anos.
