Sobre o artista
O Fall Out Boy se formou em Wilmette, Illinois, em 2001, em torno do baixista e letrista principal Pete Wentz e do guitarrista Joe Trohman, ambos antes na banda de metalcore Arma Angelus. Trohman recrutou o vocalista e guitarrista Patrick Stump, e mais tarde o baterista Andy Hurley se juntou, completando a formação clássica. Contratados pela Fueled By Ramen, o álbum de estreia de 2003, Take This to Your Grave, ajudou a definir o pop-punk e o emo do início dos anos 2000.
Seu grande avanço veio com From Under the Cork Tree (2005), impulsionado por sucessos como «Sugar, We're Goin Down» e «Dance, Dance», que levaram a banda ao público mainstream da MTV. Álbuns seguintes como Infinity on High e Folie à Deux, com «Thnks fr th Mmrs», expandiram o som com produção mais polida e influências de pop e R&B, mantendo as letras diarísticas e cheias de trocadilhos de Wentz.
Após um hiato, a banda voltou em 2013 com Save Rock and Roll, adotando um som pop-rock mais grandioso e voltado para estádios, como em «My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)». Os álbuns seguintes, American Beauty/American Psycho e Mania, trouxeram novos sucessos como «Centuries», «Uma Thurman» e «We Didn't Start the Fire». Ao longo de duas décadas, o Fall Out Boy segue como uma banda essencial na ponte entre emo, pop-punk e pop-rock mainstream.
