Sobre el artista
Coldplay es una banda de rock británica formada en Londres entre 1996 y 1997 por compañeros del University College London: Chris Martin (voz, piano, guitarra), Jonny Buckland (guitarra), Guy Berryman (bajo) y Will Champion (batería). Tras varios cambios de nombre, se establecieron como Coldplay y publicaron su álbum debut, Parachutes, en 2000, que generó comparaciones con Radiohead pero consolidó la composición melódica y emocionalmente directa de Martin como el gran sello de la banda.
Su sonido maduró con A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), considerado ampliamente más sofisticado musical y líricamente, y canciones como «The Scientist», «Yellow» y «Clocks» se convirtieron en clásicos de la radio rock de los 2000. Su cuarto álbum, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), marcó un giro estilístico importante bajo la producción de Brian Eno, incorporando texturas más orquestales y experimentales, y produjo el tema homónimo «Viva La Vida», uno de sus grandes éxitos.
En años posteriores, Coldplay se inclinó aún más hacia el pop, lo electrónico e incluso lo dance, con canciones como «A Sky Full of Stars» y «Hymn for the Weekend» reflejando colaboraciones y decisiones de producción que ampliaron su público mucho más allá de los oyentes de rock. Junto a baladas himno como «Fix You», esta evolución ha hecho de Coldplay una de las bandas de rock más exitosas comercialmente y reconocidas del siglo XXI.
