Sobre o artista
Coldplay é uma banda de rock britânica formada em Londres entre 1996 e 1997 por colegas da University College London: Chris Martin (vocais, piano, guitarra), Jonny Buckland (guitarra), Guy Berryman (baixo) e Will Champion (bateria). Após algumas mudanças de nome, adotaram Coldplay e lançaram o álbum de estreia, Parachutes, em 2000, que gerou comparações com o Radiohead, mas consolidou a composição melódica e emocionalmente direta de Martin como o grande trunfo da banda.
O som amadureceu com A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), amplamente visto como mais sofisticado musical e liricamente, e canções como «The Scientist», «Yellow» e «Clocks» tornaram-se clássicos das rádios de rock dos anos 2000. O quarto álbum, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), marcou uma virada estilística significativa sob a produção de Brian Eno, incorporando texturas mais orquestrais e experimentais, e gerou a faixa-título «Viva La Vida», um de seus maiores sucessos.
Nos anos seguintes, o Coldplay se aproximou ainda mais do pop, do eletrônico e até do dance, com canções como «A Sky Full of Stars» e «Hymn for the Weekend» refletindo colaborações e escolhas de produção que ampliaram seu público muito além dos ouvintes de rock. Ao lado de baladas hino como «Fix You», essa evolução tornou o Coldplay uma das bandas de rock comercialmente mais bem-sucedidas e reconhecidas do século XXI.
