Sobre el artista
Elton John, nacido Reginald Kenneth Dwight en Pinner, Inglaterra, es una de las figuras definitorias del pop y el rock de los últimos cincuenta años. Pianista de formación clásica, comenzó tocando en clubes de Londres antes de asociarse con el letrista Bernie Taupin, colaboración que dio origen a la mayor parte de su catálogo. Su vestuario extravagante, sus espectáculos teatrales y su sonido de piano inconfundible lo distinguieron de sus contemporáneos del rock y ayudaron a llevar la estética glam al pop masivo.
Su gran salto llegó en 1970 con un álbum homónimo, y a lo largo de la década siguiente publicó una serie de éxitos que mezclaban rock, gospel, soul y balada, entre ellos «Your Song», «Rocket Man», «Bennie and the Jets» y «Goodbye Yellow Brick Road». Más tarde conquistó nuevas audiencias gracias a trabajos para el cine, como «Can You Feel the Love Tonight» de El Rey León, y siguió publicando material exitoso en los años noventa y dos mil.
