Sobre o artista
Elton John, nascido Reginald Kenneth Dwight em Pinner, Inglaterra, é uma das figuras definidoras do pop e do rock dos últimos cinquenta anos. Pianista de formação clássica, começou tocando em clubes de Londres antes de se associar ao letrista Bernie Taupin, parceria que originou a maior parte de seu catálogo. Seu figurino extravagante, apresentações teatrais e som de piano inconfundível o distinguiram de seus contemporâneos do rock e ajudaram a levar a estética glam ao pop mainstream.
Seu grande salto veio em 1970 com um álbum homônimo, e ao longo da década seguinte lançou uma sequência de sucessos que misturavam rock, gospel, soul e balada, incluindo «Your Song», «Rocket Man», «Bennie and the Jets» e «Goodbye Yellow Brick Road». Mais tarde conquistou novos públicos com trabalhos para o cinema, como «Can You Feel the Love Tonight» de O Rei Leão, e continuou lançando material de sucesso nos anos 1990 e 2000.
