Sam Smith é um cantor e compositor inglês nascido em 19 de maio de 1992 e criado numa vila na fronteira entre Hertfordshire e Cambridgeshire, perto de Bishops Stortford. Com formação em canto jazz desde a infância, deixou a escola aos dezessete anos para perseguir uma carreira musical, enfrentando anos de dificuldades em Londres até que o grande avanço veio com uma participação vocal em «Latch», do Disclosure, e depois em «La La La», de Naughty Boy.
