Sobre el artista
Brand New es una banda de rock estadounidense formada en Long Island, Nueva York, en el año 2000 por Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney y Brian Lane, surgida de los restos de su anterior banda The Rookie Lot. Poco después se unió el guitarrista Vincent Accardi, completando la alineación que definiría su sonido durante las dos décadas siguientes. Desde el inicio destacaron en la escena emo por su disposición a reinventarse en cada disco en lugar de repetir fórmulas.
Tras el álbum de tintes pop-punk Your Favorite Weapon, la banda evolucionó radicalmente con Deja Entendu y The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, incorporando texturas más oscuras y atmosféricas influenciadas por el post-rock y el shoegaze. Su disco Daisy de 2009 profundizó aún más en un terreno experimental y áspero, convirtiéndose en su mayor éxito comercial al alcanzar el top diez del Billboard 200.
Tras una larga pausa, Brand New regresó con Science Fiction en 2017, que debutó en el número uno del Billboard 200 y fue aclamado como uno de sus trabajos más logrados. Temas como «Jesus Christ», «The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot» y «Degausser» siguen siendo referentes de la era emo y post-hardcore por su intensidad emocional y su ambición de fusionar géneros.
