Brand New

Brand New are an American rock band formed on Long Island, New York, in 2000 by Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney, and Brian Lane, emerging from the remains of their earlier band The Rookie Lot. Guitarist Vincent Accardi joined shortly after, rounding out the lineup that would define the band's sound for the following two decades. They quickly stood apart in the early-2000s emo scene through their willingness to reinvent themselves with each release rather than repeat a formula.

Starting with the pop-punk-leaning Your Favorite Weapon, the band evolved dramatically across Deja Entendu and The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, incorporating darker, more atmospheric textures influenced by post-rock and shoegaze. Their 2009 album Daisy pushed further into abrasive, experimental territory and became their biggest commercial success, reaching the top ten of the Billboard 200.

After a long hiatus, Brand New returned with Science Fiction in 2017, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and was widely praised as one of their most accomplished records. Songs like «Jesus Christ», «The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot», and «Degausser» remain touchstones of the emo and post-hardcore era, admired for their emotional intensity and genre-blurring ambition.
