Cher é uma cantora e atriz americana cuja carreira abrange mais de seis décadas, começando nos anos 1960 como metade da dupla Sonny & Cher ao lado de seu então marido Sonny Bono. O sucesso «I Got You Babe» os transformou em estrelas, e Cher iniciou simultaneamente uma carreira solo, obtendo sucesso inicial com canções como «Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)».
Quando a popularidade da dupla diminuiu, Cher se reinventou diversas vezes, tornando-se uma personalidade da televisão nos anos 1970 com programas de variedades que a transformaram em ícone da moda, e depois retornando ao topo das paradas como artista solo com sucessos número um como «Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves» e «Half-Breed».
