About the artist
Panic! at the Disco was formed in 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada, by Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brent Wilson, and Brendon Urie, becoming the first act signed to Pete Wentz's Decaydance label. Their 2005 debut A Fever You Can't Sweat Out fused pop-punk energy with theatrical, cabaret-tinged flourishes and glitchy electronic touches, yielding the breakout hit «I Write Sins Not Tragedies», which won Video of the Year at the 2006 MTV VMAs.
The band went through significant lineup changes over the years, eventually narrowing to Brendon Urie as its sole constant member and creative driving force, with the project's sound shifting dramatically across albums, from the baroque pop experimentation of Pretty. Odd. to the glam and dance-pop bombast of Death of a Bachelor, which included the hit title track and «Emperor's New Clothes».
Urie's powerful vocal range and flair for theatrical showmanship became the band's defining trait, driving later hits like «High Hopes» and «Say Amen (Saturday Night)» into mainstream pop territory while retaining rock instrumentation. Blending Rock, Pop, Electronic, and R&B influences across its catalog, Panic! at the Disco became one of the defining acts to emerge from the mid-2000s emo and pop-punk scene, known for constant reinvention.
