About the artist
Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994 by Dave Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana, who began the project as a solo outlet in the wake of Kurt Cobain's death, recording nearly every instrument himself before assembling a full touring lineup. The band's name references UFO sightings reported by pilots during World War II.
Musically, Foo Fighters built their identity on melodic, hook-driven hard rock rooted in 1990s alternative sensibilities, balancing raw guitar energy with anthemic choruses. Songs like «Everlong», «My Hero», «The Pretender» and «Best of You» became staples of modern rock radio, showcasing Grohl's songwriting range from intimate ballads to arena-sized rockers, while later work incorporated broader stylistic experimentation.
Over nine studio albums, the band earned numerous Grammy Awards and a reputation as one of the most enduring and consistent live acts in rock. Longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins, a defining presence in the band for over two decades, died in 2022, a loss that deeply marked the group's history while Foo Fighters continued to record and perform.
