About the artist
Celldweller is the primary musical project of Detroit-based producer, multi-instrumentalist, and entrepreneur Klayton, who launched it in 2000 after ending his earlier industrial band Circle of Dust. As both artist and label founder — he co-founded FiXT with James Rhodes — Klayton built Celldweller into a genre-blending force that moves fluidly between industrial, metal, electronic, drum & bass, orchestral, and acoustic textures, often within a single track.
Klayton plays most of the instrumentation himself, from drums and guitar to bass and piano, layering it with dense synthesizer programming and cinematic production. Songs like «Switchback», «Frozen», and «Shapeshifter» showcase his ability to combine aggressive electronic-rock energy with melodic, emotionally resonant songwriting, while his instrumental and score-oriented work has made Celldweller a favorite source for trailer music, video games, and film and television placements.
The project's self-titled debut album achieved the rare distinction of having every track licensed for media use, cementing Celldweller's reputation as a bridge between underground electronic-rock production and mainstream sync licensing. Klayton has continued to release music and remixes under the Celldweller name for over two decades, maintaining a dedicated fanbase built through his independent label FiXT.
