Sobre el artista
Pink Floyd es una banda de rock inglesa formada en Londres en 1965 por Syd Barrett (guitarra, voz), Nick Mason (batería), Roger Waters (bajo) y Richard Wright (teclados), a quienes más tarde se uniría David Gilmour en guitarra y voz. Su nombre proviene de dos músicos de blues estadounidenses, Pink Anderson y Floyd Council, admirados por Barrett. La banda se convirtió en pionera del rock psicodélico y progresivo, conocida por sus extensos pasajes instrumentales, su enfoque conceptual en la composición, producciones en vivo elaboradas y letras filosóficas, a menudo melancólicas.
Tras la salida de Barrett en 1968 debido a problemas de salud mental, Gilmour asumió la guitarra y Waters se convirtió gradualmente en el principal letrista y motor conceptual de la banda. Esta formación produjo el trabajo más celebrado del grupo, incluyendo Dark Side of the Moon (1973), uno de los álbumes más vendidos e influyentes de la historia del rock, seguido por Wish You Were Here (1975) y Animals (1977).
