About the artist

The Who are an English rock band formed in London in 1964, ranked alongside The Beatles and The Rolling Stones as one of «The Big Three» of the British Invasion. Built on the raw power of soul music filtered through explosive live performance, the band featured singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist and principal songwriter Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon, whose ferocious, unpredictable playing became one of the most influential drumming styles in rock history.

The Who are widely credited as pioneers of the rock opera, with concept albums like Tommy and Quadrophenia expanding what a rock record could narratively achieve, while songs such as «Baba O'Riley», «Behind Blue Eyes», «Won't Get Fooled Again», «Pinball Wizard», and «My Generation» became defining anthems of arena rock. Their explosive, destructive stage shows and maximalist «Maximum R&B» sound also made them forerunners of punk's raw aggression decades before the genre existed.

After the deaths of John Entwistle and Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend have continued to perform and record under The Who's name, with later songs like «Who Are You» and «Eminence Front» remaining staples of classic rock radio. The band's blend of melodic songwriting, operatic ambition, and sheer sonic power secured its place as one of the most influential rock acts of the 20th century.
