Sobre o artista
The Who é uma banda de rock inglesa formada em Londres em 1964, considerada, junto com The Beatles e The Rolling Stones, um dos «três grandes» da Invasão Britânica. Construída sobre a força bruta do soul filtrada por apresentações ao vivo explosivas, a banda era formada pelo vocalista Roger Daltrey, pelo guitarrista e principal compositor Pete Townshend, pelo baixista John Entwistle e pelo baterista Keith Moon, cujo estilo feroz e imprevisível se tornou um dos mais influentes da história do rock.
The Who é amplamente reconhecida como pioneira da ópera rock, com álbuns conceituais como Tommy e Quadrophenia que expandiram o que um disco de rock podia narrar, enquanto canções como «Baba O'Riley», «Behind Blue Eyes», «Won't Get Fooled Again», «Pinball Wizard» e «My Generation» se tornaram hinos definidores do arena rock. Seus shows explosivos e destrutivos e o som maximalista de «Maximum R&B» também os tornaram precursores da agressividade punk décadas antes de o gênero existir.
Após as mortes de John Entwistle e Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey e Pete Townshend continuaram se apresentando e gravando sob o nome The Who, com canções posteriores como «Who Are You» e «Eminence Front» permanecendo presentes nas rádios de rock clássico.
