About the artist
John Mayer, born in 1977 in Fairfield, Connecticut, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist whose career has moved fluidly between pop, blues and rock. After briefly attending Berklee College of Music, he launched his career in the late 1990s and broke through with his 2001 debut «Room for Squares», powered by the hit «Your Body Is a Wonderland», which earned him his first Grammy Award.
Over the following years, Mayer increasingly gravitated toward blues, forming the John Mayer Trio and collaborating with blues legends such as B.B. King and Eric Clapton, deepening his reputation as a serious guitarist rather than a purely pop figure. His 2006 album «Continuum» is widely regarded as a career highlight, blending soulful blues-rock with polished songwriting on tracks like «Waiting on the World to Change» and «Gravity», and won him further Grammy recognition.
Across subsequent albums, Mayer continued exploring roots-oriented and country-inflected sounds, showing a restless willingness to reinvent his style while retaining his guitar-driven core. Songs like «Daughters» and «Slow Dancing in a Burning Room» reflect his gift for intimate, melodically rich songwriting, and he remains a prominent live performer known for extended, improvisation-heavy guitar work drawing on his blues influences.
