The 1975 é uma banda inglesa de Macclesfield, Cheshire, formada por amigos de infância Matty Healy (vocal, guitarra), Adam Hann (guitarra), Ross MacDonald (baixo) e George Daniel (bateria). Atualmente baseados em Manchester, passaram anos lançando EPs antes de o álbum de estreia homônimo chegar em 2013, misturando art rock, synth-pop e R&B dançante num som que muda de disco para disco.
O segundo álbum, i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it, adotou um pop mais polido com influências dos anos 1980 e levou a banda ao mainstream, com faixas como «Somebody Else», «Love Me» e «The Sound» se tornando favoritas dos fãs.
