Земфира (Zemfira)

Zemfira Ramazanova is a Russian singer, songwriter and musician from Ufa who became one of the most influential figures in post-Soviet rock and alternative music. She launched her career in Moscow in 1998, and her self-titled debut album the following year turned her into a defining voice of Russian rock at the turn of the millennium, admired for its raw emotional honesty and sharp, poetic lyricism.

Across albums such as «Прости меня моя любовь», «Четырнадцать недель тишины», «Вендетта» and «Спасибо», Zemfira developed a sound that moved fluidly between guitar-driven rock, introspective balladry and electronic textures, always centered on her distinctive, husky vocal delivery. Songs like «Хочешь?», «Искала» and «ромашки» remain touchstones of Russian-language rock, blending intimate confessional songwriting with anthemic hooks.

In 2013 she formed the side project The Uchpochmack with her twin nephews Artyom and Artur Ramazanov-Ostapenko, and later launched another collaborative project, «Земфира от Луки», with Artur. Her later work, including the album «Бордерлайн», showed continued evolution while retaining the emotional intensity that has defined her career for over two decades.
