Young the Giant

Young the Giant is an American rock band formed in Irvine, California, in 2004, originally under the name The Jakes. The lineup features Sameer Gadhia on lead vocals alongside guitarists and rhythm players who built the band’s reputation for soaring, anthemic indie rock with a distinctive, emotive vocal delivery. Signed to Roadrunner Records in 2009, the band released its self-titled debut album in 2010, which produced three singles — «My Body», «Cough Syrup», and «Apartment» — that all reached the top five of the US Alternative Songs chart.

Following that breakout, Young the Giant expanded their sound across a run of albums that moved from radio-ready alt-rock toward more atmospheric and experimental textures: Mind Over Matter (2014), Home of the Strange (2016), and Mirror Master (2018). Songs like «Something to Believe In», «Mind Over Matter», and «Superposition» showcase the band’s knack for blending widescreen melody with introspective lyricism.

The band continued evolving with the 2022 release American Bollywood, alongside the companion release Mirrorball and a tenth-anniversary edition of their debut album. Across nearly two decades, Young the Giant has remained a fixture of American alternative rock radio, known for songs that pair emotional vulnerability with big, festival-ready choruses.
