Wolf Alice

Wolf Alice is an alternative rock band from North London formed in 2010 by Ellie Rowsell and Joff Oddie as an acoustic duo, later expanding into a full band with Joel Amey on drums and Theo Ellis on bass. The band's name is drawn from a short story by Angela Carter, hinting at the fairy-tale and folklore imagery that colors much of their songwriting.

After releasing the EPs Blush in 2013 and Creature Songs in 2014, the band issued their debut album My Love Is Cool in 2015, which established their signature blend of shoegaze, grunge, and dream-pop textures alongside Rowsell's shifting vocal delivery, ranging from whispered melodies to raw, distorted shouting. Their follow-up, Visions of a Life, released in 2017, expanded their sonic palette further, moving between delicate balladry and heavier, more aggressive rock passages within the same record.

Songs like «Don't Delete the Kisses», «Silk», and «Bros» illustrate the band's range, from atmospheric, synth-tinged tracks to anthemic guitar-driven songs. Wolf Alice's willingness to shift genres within a single album, rather than settling into one register, has made them one of the more distinctive guitar bands to emerge from the UK indie scene in the 2010s.
