Whitechapel

Whitechapel is an American deathcore band formed in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2006 by vocalist Phil Bozeman and guitarist Ben Savage. The band took its name from the Whitechapel district of London, evoking the notoriety of the Jack the Ripper murders, a fitting reference for the group's brutal, atmospheric sound.

Musically, Whitechapel combines the crushing breakdowns and guttural vocals of deathcore with elements of groove metal and, in later work, more melodic and progressive songwriting. Over the course of eight studio albums, the band has steadily expanded its palette, moving from straightforward brutality toward darker, more emotionally resonant material, particularly on records that explore themes of trauma and personal loss.

Whitechapel has become one of the most enduring and respected names in modern deathcore, maintaining a dedicated following through consistent touring and a willingness to evolve their sound without abandoning their heavy roots. Songs such as «Hymns in Dissonance» and «Brimstone» reflect the band's blend of aggression and melodic ambition that has defined their later career.
