Warrant

Warrant are an American glam metal band formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1980s, part of the Sunset Strip hard rock scene alongside acts like Poison and Ratt. Fronted originally by singer Jani Lane, the band built its reputation on catchy, hook-driven anthems and power ballads that combined polished hard rock riffs with radio-friendly melodies.

Warrant's breakthrough came with their debut album «Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich», followed by «Cherry Pie», whose title track became one of the defining singles of the late-1980s glam metal era. Songs such as «Heaven» and «Sometimes She Cries» showcased the band's ballad side, while «Down Boys» and «I Saw Red» leaned into harder-edged rock, giving the band a broad commercial appeal during hair metal's commercial peak.

As musical tastes shifted in the early 1990s with the rise of grunge, Warrant adapted their sound on later releases while continuing to tour and record with various lineups over the following decades. Jani Lane's distinctive voice and songwriting remained central to the band's identity even after his departure and later passing, and Warrant has continued performing as part of the enduring live nostalgia circuit for 1980s hard rock.
