Wali (Band)

Wali is an Indonesian pop-rock band formed in 1999 in the Ciputat area of Tangerang, near Jakarta. The group built a large domestic following with a melodic, accessible pop sound rooted in Malay-language balladry, often infused with religious and moral themes that set them apart from purely secular pop acts on the Indonesian charts. Their music blends easy-listening pop-rock instrumentation with sentimental, storytelling lyrics that resonate widely across Indonesia and the broader Malay-speaking region.

The band's lineup has centered on vocalist Faank, guitarist Apoy, keyboardist Ovie and drummer Tomi. They released their debut album, Orang Bilang, in 2008, which helped establish their sound and popularity, and they have continued releasing music in the years since, including their album 2020. Songs such as «Baik Baik Sayang», «Cari Jodoh» and «Aku Bukan Bang Toyib» became widely known hits, showcasing the band's knack for catchy, emotionally direct songwriting.
