Vundabar

Vundabar is an American indie rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, built around songwriter and frontman Brandon Hagen alongside drummer Drew McDonald, with bassist Zack Abramo joining the lineup on later releases. The band emerged in the early 2010s from the same DIY Boston scene that produced other lo-fi and garage-leaning indie acts, and their music blends jagged, riff-driven guitar work with unpredictable song structures and Hagen's distinctive, often deadpan vocal delivery.

Over a string of independently released albums, Vundabar developed a reputation for restless genre-hopping within a broadly indie rock and garage rock framework, shifting between abrasive, punk-adjacent bursts and more melodic, hook-laden passages, sometimes within the same song. Their lyrics frequently pair dark or anxious themes with wry, absurdist humor, giving the band's catalog a tonal unpredictability that has become one of its signatures.
