Van Halen

Van Halen is an American hard rock band formed in Pasadena, California, in 1972. The classic lineup paired brothers Eddie Van Halen on guitar and Alex Van Halen on drums with vocalist David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony, a combination that produced six studio albums between 1978 and 1984 now regarded as foundational to the hard rock and heavy metal canon.

Eddie Van Halen's guitar playing, marked by his pioneering use of two-handed tapping technique alongside virtuosic legato runs and inventive tone, fundamentally reshaped rock guitar and influenced generations of players who followed. Combined with Roth's flamboyant showmanship and Anthony's high harmony vocals, the band forged a sound that was technically dazzling yet unmistakably fun, echoing across hits like «Runnin' With the Devil», «Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love» and their cover of «You Really Got Me».

The band's commercial peak arrived with 1984 and its hit single «Jump», which brought synthesizers into their sound and topped the charts. After Roth's departure the group continued with singer Sammy Hagar through further successful albums, cementing Van Halen's legacy as one of the most influential and best-selling rock acts to emerge from the Los Angeles scene.
