Tyler Joseph

Tyler Joseph is an American musician, songwriter and producer best known as the lead vocalist, pianist and primary songwriter of twenty one pilots, the Columbus, Ohio duo he formed with drummer Josh Dun. Before the band took shape, Joseph released a solo album, No Phun Intended, recorded while still in high school, which laid the groundwork for the melodic and lyrical ideas he would later develop and re-record with the group. His restless, self-taught musicianship spans piano, bass, ukulele and rapping, reflecting an early period of experimenting alone in a home studio.

With twenty one pilots, Joseph became known for blending pop, rock, rap, reggae and electronic elements into a genre-defying sound, paired with candid lyrics about anxiety, depression, faith and identity. Albums such as Vessel, Blurryface and Trench brought the duo mainstream success, with Joseph's songwriting often built around narrative concepts and recurring characters. Early songs like «Drown» and «Blasphemy» from his solo work were later reworked into tracks such as «Anathema» on the band's Regional at Best release.

Joseph's willingness to expose personal struggle in his lyrics, combined with an unpredictable stylistic range, has made him one of the more distinctive songwriters of his generation, helping twenty one pilots build an intensely devoted global fanbase.
