Turnover

Turnover is an American rock band formed in 2009 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, currently consisting of vocalist Austin Getz, drummer Casey Getz and bassist Danny Dempsey. The band started out playing pop-punk in the vein of their early scene peers, but over the course of the 2010s underwent a striking transformation, moving toward dream pop and shoegaze-influenced sounds built on hazy guitars, breathy vocals and lush, atmospheric production.

Their 2015 album «Peripheral Vision» marked the turning point that defined this new direction and is widely regarded as a landmark record in the emo-adjacent dream pop revival of the mid-2010s, drawing comparisons to acts like Whirr and Nothing while carving out its own melodic, nostalgic identity. They continued to evolve with «Good Nature» in 2017, pushing further into mellow, jazz- and psych-tinged territory, and with subsequent releases that leaned into synth textures and softer songwriting, including songs such as «Cutting My Fingers Off» and «Super Natural».

Signed to Run For Cover Records for much of their catalogue, Turnover is frequently cited as one of the key bands that helped bridge the emo and pop-punk underground with dream pop and indie sensibilities, influencing a wider wave of bands drawing on both scenes. Their discography, spanning «Magnolia», «Peripheral Vision» and «Good Nature» alongside several EPs, traces a rare and well-documented artistic evolution within the American DIY rock scene.
