Train

Train is an American rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1993 and led by vocalist Patrick Monahan. The band's self-titled 1998 debut introduced them with the hit «Meet Virginia», but it was their 2001 album Drops of Jupiter that turned them into a household name, driven by the Grammy Award-winning title track «Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)» and its warm, string-laced pop-rock sound.

Train's music blends radio-friendly pop-rock with touches of folk, country, and soul, favoring big melodic hooks and conversational, often sentimental lyrics. Their 2009 comeback single «Hey, Soul Sister» became one of the best-selling singles of all time and reintroduced the band to a new generation, followed by hits like «Drive By» and «50 Ways to Say Goodbye» that leaned further into an upbeat, ukulele-tinged pop sound.

Over more than two decades, the band has gone through numerous lineup changes around Monahan as its constant creative center, while continuing to release music and tour steadily, including holiday-themed material like «Shake Up Christmas». Their catalog reflects a consistent commercial instinct for melody and mass appeal, keeping them a fixture of adult contemporary and pop-rock radio for much of the 2000s and 2010s.
