Toploader

Toploader are a British alternative rock band formed in 1997, known for reviving a warm, keyboard-driven, 1970s-tinged sound within the British rock and Britpop-adjacent scene of the late 1990s. The band's lineup has centered on keyboardist and vocalist Joseph Washbourne, guitarist Dan Hipgrave, bassist Matt Knight and drummer Rob Green, with guitarist Julian Deane part of earlier incarnations.

The group became globally recognized for its cover of «Dancing in the Moonlight», a joyous, organ-soaked track that turned into one of the defining feel-good anthems of the era and remains a staple on radio and at festivals decades later. Their sound blends soulful vocal hooks, retro instrumentation and anthemic choruses, distinguishing them from the more guitar-centric britpop of their contemporaries.
