Thrice

Thrice is an American rock band formed in Irvine, California in 1998, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Dustin Kensrue, guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge, and drummer Riley Breckenridge. Emerging from the Southern California post-hardcore and punk scene, the band's early records were marked by fast tempos, technical riffing, and Kensrue's alternation between melodic singing and screamed vocals, placing them at the intersection of punk and hardcore.

Over the following decade, Thrice became known for restless stylistic evolution, moving through heavier, more experimental territory with albums like «The Artist in the Ambulance» and «Vheissu» before embracing a broader palette on the four-part «The Alchemy Index», which explored fire, water, air, and earth as conceptual and sonic themes across electronic, acoustic, and heavier material. Later albums continued to blend post-hardcore intensity with folk, blues, and atmospheric elements, reflecting a songwriting process the band has described as democratic and emotionally driven.

After an extended hiatus in the mid-2010s, Thrice returned with new material that continued to draw on their full stylistic range. Songs like «Black Honey» and «Image of the Invisible» remain touchstones of their catalog, and the band is widely respected for maintaining artistic ambition and consistency across a long career rather than settling into a single genre.
