The Sundays

The Sundays were an English alternative rock band formed in the late 1980s, fronted by vocalist Harriet Wheeler alongside guitarist David Gavurin, whose jangly, chiming guitar work and Wheeler's airy, distinctive voice defined a sound often linked to the dream pop and jangle-pop movements that followed in the wake of bands like The Smiths and Cocteau Twins.

Their debut album, «Reading, Writing and Arithmetic» (1990), introduced their delicate, melodic style, with «Here's Where the Story Ends» becoming one of their most enduring songs. They followed with «Blind» (1992) and «Static & Silence» (1997), the latter featuring «Summertime», one of their better-known later singles, while their cover of the Rolling Stones' «Wild Horses» further showcased Wheeler's ethereal delivery.

Despite releasing only three albums across a relatively short and quiet career, The Sundays left a lasting influence on 1990s British indie and alternative rock, admired for their understated, atmospheric sound and Wheeler's instantly recognizable vocals, which continued to resonate with listeners well beyond the band's active years.
