The Oh Hellos

The Oh Hellos are an American folk-rock duo formed by siblings Maggie and Tyler Heath, who grew up in southern Texas and began making music together in a home bedroom studio before releasing their self-titled EP in 2011. Based in San Marcos, Texas, they became known for a self-produced, DIY approach — writing, recording, mixing, and mastering their own material — and for building out a large, ensemble-style touring band once their songs moved to the stage.

Their 2012 debut full-length, «Through the Deep, Dark Valley», established their sound: lush folk-rock arrangements built on soaring group harmonies, banjo and strings, and lyrics steeped in themes of guilt, forgiveness, and redemption. Their acclaimed second album, «Dear Wormwood», expanded on this with a narrative concept inspired by C.S. Lewis's «The Screwtape Letters» and other mythological and apocalyptic literature, framed as a series of letters to an antagonist. Songs like «Soldier, Poet, King», «Hello My Old Heart», and «Bitter Water» showcase the band's signature blend of intimate storytelling and communal, anthemic choruses.

The Oh Hellos have carved out a devoted following within the indie folk scene for their emotionally rich songwriting and independent, family-run ethos, continuing to self-release music and tour with an ever-expanding cast of collaborators drawn from their close musical community in Texas.
