The Offspring

The Offspring are an American punk rock band formed in 1984 in Huntington Beach, California. The band's long-running lineup has centered on Bryan «Dexter» Holland on vocals and guitar and Kevin «Noodles» Wasserman on lead guitar, with a rhythm section that has included bassist Greg K. for much of the band's history and drummer Pete Parada. They emerged from the same Southern California punk scene as bands like Bad Religion, and their breakthrough came in the mid-1990s as punk rock surged into the commercial mainstream alongside acts like Green Day.

The Offspring's sound blends fast, aggressive punk instrumentation with hook-heavy, radio-friendly melodies and a frequent streak of dark humor and social satire, evident in tracks like «Self Esteem», «Come Out and Play (Keep 'Em Separated)» and the massively popular «Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)». Their 1994 album «Smash» became one of the best-selling independent albums in history and helped define the pop-punk explosion of the era, while later hits such as «You're Gonna Go Far, Kid» and «The Kids Aren't Alright» kept the band commercially relevant well into the 2000s.

Decades into their career, The Offspring remain one of the most recognizable names in mainstream punk rock, frequently mentioned alongside Green Day and Rancid as a defining act of the genre's 1990s commercial breakthrough, and continue to tour and record new material.
