The Neighbourhood

The Neighbourhood is an American rock band formed in Newbury Park, California. The lineup has centered on vocalist Jesse Rutherford alongside guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott and drummer Brandon Fried. The band is instantly recognizable by its monochrome visual identity and an upside-down house logo tattooed on every member, a branding choice that tied into their early cultivation of a moody, cinematic aesthetic across music videos and artwork.

Musically, the group blends alternative rock with hip-hop and R&B textures, drawing on Rutherford's early background in rap. That mix, layered over reverb-heavy guitars and brooding vocal melodies, gave rise to their breakout single «Sweater Weather», which propelled their 2013 debut album I Love You. to mainstream attention after two earlier EPs, Thank You and I'm Sorry..., built a devoted cult following.

Over the following decade the band continued releasing full-length albums and toured alongside acts like Travis Scott and The 1975, while also weathering lineup changes, including the early departure of original drummer Bryan Sammis. Songs such as «Daddy Issues» and «Cry Baby» further cemented their sound as a bridge between indie rock sensibility and darker, R&B-inflected pop.
