The Moldy Peaches

The Moldy Peaches were an American anti-folk duo formed in New York City in the late 1990s, consisting of Kimya Dawson and Adam Green. Emerging from the city's freak-folk and anti-folk scene alongside acts associated with venues like the Sidewalk Cafe, the duo became known for deliberately lo-fi, childlike, and darkly funny songs that mixed sweetness with taboo or absurd subject matter.

Their self-titled 2001 album became a cult favorite for its blend of naive melodies, playground imagery, and frank, often shocking lyrics, delivered with an intentionally amateurish charm that stood in contrast to slicker indie rock of the era. Songs like «Anyone Else but You» and «Little Bunny Foo Foo» exemplify their signature mix of tenderness and irreverence.

The band gained mainstream visibility years after their initial run when «Anyone Else but You» was featured prominently in the 2007 film Juno, introducing their music to a much wider audience. After the group's activity wound down, Dawson and Green each pursued prolific solo careers, with Dawson becoming a well-known voice in lo-fi singer-songwriter and children's music circles and Green continuing as a musician, painter, and filmmaker.
