The Menzingers

The Menzingers are an American punk rock band formed in 2006 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The lineup — vocalists and guitarists Greg Barnett and Tom May, bassist Eric Keen, and drummer Joe Godino — grew out of the region's tight-knit ska-punk scene, with several members having roots in earlier local bands before consolidating into this project. By the end of the decade the band had relocated to Philadelphia, which became their creative base.

Musically, the Menzingers blend the melodic urgency of pop-punk with the gruffer, more literate songwriting associated with acts like The Replacements or early Against Me!, trading vocal duties between Barnett and May to give their records a conversational, dual-narrator feel. Their lyrics lean heavily on nostalgia, small-town restlessness, and blue-collar Pennsylvania imagery, often filtered through candid, diary-like storytelling rather than abstraction.

Albums such as «Chamberlain Waits», «On the Impossible Past», and «After the Party» are widely regarded as high points of 2010s American punk, earning the band a reputation as torchbearers of the genre's more emotionally direct wing.
