The Maine

The Maine is an American alternative rock band formed in Tempe, Arizona in 2007, built around vocalist John O'Callaghan, guitarists Jared Monaco and Kennedy Brock, bassist Garrett Nickelsen and drummer Pat Kirch. Emerging from the mid-2000s Warped Tour-adjacent pop-punk and emo scene, the band signed to Fearless Records early on and released a series of EPs before their full-length debut, «Can't Stop Won't Stop», in 2008, which established them within the pop-rock and alternative scene of that era.

Over the following decade the band steadily evolved their sound, moving from the brighter pop-rock of their early work through the more mature, guitar-driven «Pioneer» and «Forever Halloween», to the widely praised «American Candy» in 2015, often cited as a creative and commercial high point that leaned into a warmer, 1970s-tinged rock sound. Later albums such as «Lovely Little Lonely», «You Are OK», «XOXO: From Love & Anxiety in Real Time» and their self-titled 2023 record reflect a band unafraid to experiment across pop, electronic and rap-inflected textures while retaining their alternative-rock core.

Notable for maintaining an unusually close, independent relationship with their fanbase — including founding their own label, 8123 — The Maine have built a career on longevity and creative reinvention rather than a single breakout hit, becoming a respected fixture of the American alternative and pop-rock touring circuit.
