The Lumineers

The Lumineers are an American folk-rock band formed in New Jersey and later based in Denver, Colorado, built around the songwriting partnership of Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. Relocating to Colorado to focus on music, they brought in cellist and vocalist Neyla Pekarek before releasing their self-titled debut album in 2012, a record built on stomping acoustic arrangements, group handclaps, and plainspoken storytelling. The lead single «Ho Hey» became a massive crossover hit, helping define the early-2010s folk-pop revival alongside bands like Mumford & Sons.

Their sound blends folk instrumentation with anthemic, radio-friendly pop structures, favoring warm, communal choruses over polish. Songs like «Stubborn Love» and «Sleep on the Floor» showcase Schultz's plaintive vocal delivery paired with Fraites's driving percussion.

The band expanded their palette on 2016's Cleopatra, which spawned singles such as «Ophelia», «Cleopatra», and «Angela», moving toward more narrative, character-driven songwriting while retaining their organic, band-in-a-room feel.
