The J. Geils Band

The J. Geils Band was an American rock band formed in 1967 in Worcester, Massachusetts, led by guitarist J. Geils and featuring the charismatic frontman Peter Wolf. Rooted in blues and R&B, the group built its early reputation as a ferocious live act, blending harmonica-driven blues rock with soulful vocals and a party-hearty energy that set them apart from many of their contemporaries.

Through the 1970s the band released a string of well-regarded albums that mixed covers with original material, steadily building a devoted following even as mainstream chart success remained elusive. Their sound gradually incorporated more pop and new wave elements, culminating in their commercial breakthrough with the 1981 album «Freeze-Frame», which produced the massive hit «Centerfold» and the title track «Freeze-Frame».

Other enduring songs like «Love Stinks» and «Must of Got Lost» showcase the band's range, from biting relationship anthems to loose, groove-driven rock.
