The Hotelier

The Hotelier is an American rock band from Worcester, Massachusetts, formed in the late 2000s under the name The Hotel Year. The lineup has centered on Christian Holden (vocals, bass) and Chris Hoffman (vocals, guitar), with the band emerging from the same DIY emo scene as many of their Northeastern contemporaries. After early releases including the EP We Are All Alone and the Two Song Demo, they issued their debut full-length, It Never Goes Out, in 2011.

The band shortened its name to The Hotelier in late 2013, a change frontman Christian Holden explained came from being tired of fans confusing it with My Hotel Year. That rebrand coincided with a major artistic leap: the 2014 album Home, Like Noplace Is There became a landmark record of the 2010s emo revival, praised for its raw, confessional lyrics and dynamic, anthemic songwriting exemplified by tracks like «Among the Wildflowers» and «Dendron».

The Hotelier continued to evolve their sound on later releases, incorporating more expansive and experimental arrangements while keeping the emotionally direct songwriting that defined their early work. They remain one of the most influential bands associated with the modern emo and post-hardcore revival, cited frequently by younger acts in the scene.
