The High Strung

The High Strung is an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan, formed around co-lead singers and guitarists Josh Malerman and Mark Owen, alongside guitarist Stephen Palmer, bassist Chad Stocker and drummer Derek Berk. The band is part of Detroit's garage and indie rock lineage, known for energetic live shows and a raw, hook-driven guitar-pop sound.

The High Strung gained wider recognition for having their music, including the song «The Luck You Got», used as the theme for the television series Parks and Recreation, exposing the band to an audience well beyond the indie rock circuit. Their catalogue, featuring tracks like «Sexy Girl», «I Got Your Back», «In the Middle» and «Guilt Is How I'm Built», reflects a blend of scrappy rock energy with pop melodicism and witty, offbeat lyricism.
