The Ghost Inside

The Ghost Inside is a melodic hardcore band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004 and reformed under this name in 2008. Fronted by vocalist Jonathan Vigil, the band built a devoted following in the metalcore and hardcore scenes by fusing melodic, anthemic hooks with breakdown-heavy aggression and lyrics centered on perseverance, loss, and self-empowerment. Early releases on Mediaskare Records established their sound before they signed to Epitaph Records, where they found a wider audience.

Their 2012 album Get What You Give, featuring the single «Engine 45», became a defining record of the era's melodic hardcore revival, followed by 2014's Dear Youth, which further cemented their reputation as one of the genre's most emotionally direct and musically disciplined bands. In November 2015, the band's tour bus was involved in a catastrophic highway collision in Texas that killed both vehicle drivers and left members and crew with severe, life-altering injuries, including the amputation of drummer Andrew Tkaczyk's leg.

The band's recovery and eventual return to performing and recording became a widely followed story of resilience within the hardcore community, and their comeback material carried the weight of that experience directly into the music. The Ghost Inside remains one of the most respected names in modern melodic hardcore, known for pairing raw emotional honesty with tightly crafted, high-energy songwriting.
