The Front Bottoms

The Front Bottoms are an American indie rock band from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, formed by vocalist and guitarist Brian Sella and drummer Mat Uychich, who began playing together in high school. Over time the lineup expanded to include Tom Warren on bass and Ciaran O'Donnell on keyboards, guitar, and trumpet. The band emerged from New Jersey's DIY basement-show scene, self-recording early material before signing with Bar/None Records and later Fueled by Ramen.

Their sound blends scrappy, folk-inflected indie rock with punk energy and pop songwriting instincts, anchored by Sella's conversational, half-sung, half-shouted vocal delivery and diary-like lyrics about heartbreak, growing up, and small-town restlessness. Songs like «Twin Size Mattress» and «Father» became fan favorites for their raw emotional honesty paired with anthemic, singalong choruses.

The band built a devoted following through relentless touring and a string of acclaimed albums, moving from lo-fi beginnings to fuller, more polished production while retaining their signature earnestness. They remain a touchstone of the 2010s emo-revival and indie rock scenes.
