The Drums

The Drums are an American indie rock band fronted by singer-songwriter Jonathan «Jonny» Pierce, who has been the group's sole consistent member and primary songwriter and producer since 2016. Formed in 2009, the band initially built its sound around jangly guitars, upbeat surf-pop melodies, and a bittersweet, melancholic undertone that set it apart from purely nostalgic revival acts.

Early songs like «Let's Go Surfing» established the group's breezy, retro-tinged pop sensibility, while later work moved toward more introspective, electronic-leaning territory as Pierce's songwriting turned increasingly personal, exploring themes of identity, faith, and heartbreak.
