The Dismemberment Plan

The Dismemberment Plan was an American indie rock band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1993, active through the late 1990s and early 2000s with later reunions. Fronted by singer Travis Morrison, the band became known for restlessly inventive songwriting that folded post-punk, funk, hip-hop and electronic textures into a jittery, angular indie rock foundation, marking them as pioneers of the era's emerging dance-punk sensibility.

Their reputation rests heavily on the album «Emergency & I», widely regarded as a landmark of late-90s indie rock for its blend of manic energy and emotionally raw, often ironic lyrics about loneliness, anxiety and modern alienation. Morrison's distinctive half-sung, half-spoken vocal style and the band's willingness to jump between genres within a single song set them apart from more straightforward guitar-rock peers of the time.

Songs such as «The City», «Spider in the Snow» and «You Are Invited» reflect the band's range, from tender balladry to frenetic, groove-driven art-punk.
