The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears Prada is an American metalcore band from Dayton, Ohio, founded in 2005 by vocalist Mike Hranica. Emerging alongside bands like Underoath and August Burns Red, TDWP became one of the leading acts of the Christian metalcore wave, pairing crushing breakdowns and screamed verses with soaring clean choruses, often built around themes of faith, mortality and personal struggle.

The band's name, often assumed to reference the 2006 film, actually comes from the novel it was based on; TDWP later reframed the title around an anti-materialistic message. Tracks such as «Chemical», «Sacrifice» and «Assistant To The Regional Manager» showcase the group's blend of technical guitar work, electronic textures and dramatic vocal interplay between screams and melodic hooks.

Across more than a decade of releases, several TDWP albums charted on the Billboard 200, with multiple entries reaching the top ten — a rare feat for a metalcore act. Their willingness to incorporate electronic and progressive elements alongside their heavier roots helped keep the band relevant as the genre evolved, cementing their status as one of the defining names of 2000s-2010s metalcore.
